1) How are institutions currently using technology to communicate with parents? What is being considered for the future?
2) How are parents utilizing social networking sites? (example: Facebook and MySpace to check out their student’s roommate, then demanding a roommate change)
3) What responsibility, if any, does the institution have in educating parents about the positives/negatives/misrepresentations of these sites?

1. We started to collect parents email addresses through our online summer orientation and registration reservation page. We use this address to provide information regarding the University that will assist the parent in becoming a great resouce for their student as the student transitions to the institution.
3. I think education is important at all levels. If there is a parent service office at your institution, parents and the University need to be talking about the tool.
This is great info to know.
